On Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump reiterated his belief that he played a crucial role in preventing a war between India and Pakistan through a trade agreement. He stated, "The most significant issue was India and Pakistan... I resolved that through a series of trade-related phone calls. I warned that if they continued to fight, we would not proceed with any trade deal. The Pakistani General visited my office last week, and I have a strong friendship with Prime Minister Modi, who I regard highly. I urged them to find common ground, emphasizing that a trade deal would not happen if conflict persisted. They agreed to pursue the trade deal, which helped avert a nuclear confrontation."
Broader Diplomatic Efforts
Trump further elaborated on his diplomatic efforts, mentioning, "Recently, we addressed issues involving India and Pakistan, as well as Kosovo and Serbia. Additionally, we are seeing progress with the Congo and Rwanda, which had a long-standing conflict. We have achieved more in this area than anyone else has before."
Ceasefire Between Israel and Iran
Previously, Trump expressed pride in his role in halting the conflict between Iran and Israel, claiming it was a significant achievement to dismantle Iran's nuclear capabilities before facilitating a ceasefire. In a post on Truth Social, he remarked that both nations were equally eager to end the hostilities, stating, "Both Israel and Iran wanted to stop the War, equally! It was my great honour to Destroy All Nuclear facilities & capability, and then, STOP THE WAR." This statement followed a series of military escalations in the region, which began with Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military targets on June 13.
